Sandy Rodgers’ Rose Confetti

CLASS DESCRIPTION

Confetti - bits and pieces which combine to form a magnificent total. In this confetti design of many parts, the straight lines of area sections and needlepoint stitches contrast with the soft curves of realistic shading and bargello patterns. Areas of open work showing the color of the Congress cloth contrast with the sparkle of Delica beads and metallic braid. Rose Confetti is a glorious study of contrasts and comparisons.

Learn Sandy’s easy way to create depth and dimension as you use your needle and silks to create the rose. A study of realistic shading, the center motif also employs both basic and enhancement techniques. Judicious over-stitching with partial blending filament creates a special luminosity-all techniques which you can use in your other stitching.

In addition to Sandy’s approach to realistic shading and how easy it is to do, we’ll also learn three types of bargello: line, 4-way, and diagonal. There are areas devoted to laid patterns, blackwork, contemporary cornelli work, handling exposed canvas, asymmetrical balance, traditional stitches used in an unusual way, composite patterns, and burden patterns, plus so much more and all fun to try. Then we’ll divide the sections and surround it all with a glorious beaded border. Your Rose Confetti will be bits and pieces that combine into a magnificent total!

The 60 plus page instruction booklet contains ‘work-in-progress’ photos which make completing the project easy. Basic color theory as it applies to depth perception and shading will be discussed in the posted lessons. An optional kit is available in either yellow or rose canvas and matching silks and beads, or select your own materials in your color choice.

Rose Confetti is stitched on a 12” x 14” piece of Congress cloth. The finished design size is 7.25” x 9.25”.

The following material options will be available:

  • Instruction book only
  • Instruction book and kit which includes the canvas and all of threads with your choice of two colorways-yellow or rose

Taking this CyberWorkshop will help you turn your stitching confetti into beautiful designs like this rose.

The "classroom" for the ANG CyberWorkshop will be a dedicated e-mail list where the teacher will post the lessons (text only) and students can post questions and comments about the class. In addition, the teacher may post visual aids (stitched samples, expanded charts, etc.). The e-mail list will be created after registration closes. Based on past experience, the amount of traffic on this e-mail list varies throughout the class. At the beginning of the class, students can expect to receive more than a dozen messages on some days. As the class continues, there are usually significantly fewer messages. The class fee includes access to the dedicated e-mail list. Because the class lessons will be posted to this e-mail list, students participating in an ANG CyberWorkshop must have a unique e-mail address.

Please note: a minimum level of computer knowledge is required. You should know how to use your e-mail program and how to access a password-protected Web site. ANG is not responsible for teaching these skills.

You will be getting e-mail from the teacher, the angel, and other students in the class. You may not recognize the e-mail addresses from which the messages have been sent, but all will have a subject line that clearly identifies the message as being part of the CyberWorkshop. DO NOT put blocks on any of these addresses. If you do not wish to receive the CyberWorkshop messages at your regular address, please set up a separate account at one of the free Web-based e-mail services, and make sure that the Class Angel has that address.

Registration ends on June 30, 2013. The first lesson will be posted September 8, 2013. This will be a four-month workshop. There will not be a critique at the end of the workshop.
