What is The Rees Group’s relationship to ANG?
The Rees Group, Inc. (TRG) is an association management company incorporated in Wisconsin; it is an independent contractor and not an employee or agent of ANG. The authority and responsibility for the management of ANG is vested in the ANG Board of Directors, and the ANG Board annually evaluates TRG’s performance. The TRG contract year is from November 1 through October 31 of the following year. Under that contract, TRG:
- Provides ANG with a fully equipped headquarters office, including a physical mailing address. TRG receives mail, answers phone calls, faxes, and e-mails.
- Serves as teller for ANG’s annual elections.
- Stores ANG’s supplies, products, and corporate records.
- Provides ANG with membership and Seminar statistics and updates for each Board meeting. Membership statistics are provided six times a year.
- Maintains an ANG bank account for the deposit of ANG funds and collects, records, and deposits incoming receipts, including dues and Seminar fees. TRG also processes credit card payments, sends receipts, and sends the ANG Treasurer a monthly report of all financial activity.
- Advises the Board of fiscal information that may impact the annual budget.
- Maintains a membership department to answer inquiries, keeps records, generates dues notices, mail new membership materials, promote membership campaigns, and prepare reports for the Board.
- Serves as site evaluator for the annual Seminar. This includes negotiating favorable rates for meeting and sleeping rooms, physically inspecting the premises and recommending efficient layout, planning meal functions, negotiating audio-visual rates and other services, and providing budget information to the Board.
- Manages all aspects of Seminar registration, including lottery, class counts, pre-Seminar newsletter, name badges, pins, tickets, and the Participant’s Handbook.
- Manages all on-site events, including Expo, meetings, classroom setup, registration desk, refreshment breaks, etc.
- Prepares a statistical report detailing such items as attendee count, cancellations, and evaluation forms. Also prepares a detailed financial report following Seminar.
- Spends approximately 2,300 hours a year working for ANG at a flat rate per staff hour. The contract allows for an annual increase of approximately 1% of the annual fee. The management fee ensures ANG does not need to own or rent the equipment and software, or hire staff. The fee includes those costs, including salary, payroll taxes, and benefits, and for the office rent, utilities, furnishings, equipment, computers, software, telephones, fax, etc. The contract fee does not include such items as staff travel, outside labor, postage, shipping, legal fees, audit fees, tax preparation fees, and other related expenses.
