Stitch of the Month (SOTM) is a member-only benefit that has been one of the favorite education offerings on ANG’s website since inception. It has evolved from exactly that, a new stitch presented monthly, to an annual project that is released in installments. The project may be shown up front, it may remain a mystery until all the installments are complete, or it could be a developing exercise in learning and creativity. Well known designers donate the projects and instructions. These postings allow one to explore and execute different types of stitches while learning about threads, color, and texture too in many cases. You will learn a wide assortment stitches enabling you to achieve a variety of effects on canvas. You may decide to stitch along each month or explore years past starting with basic stitches. You can create your own stitch dictionary, complete the annual project or just refer back to this area when looking for a particular stitch. The annual projects also make great chapter programs, whether done for the current or past years. Questions about Stitch of the Month? Email stitchofthemonth@needlepoint.org.

Our first Stitch of the Month (1998) is available below for all to use. It's a great introduction to needlepoint stitches, designed by the late Beth Robertson.
In 1998, the first year of Stitch of the Month, Beth Robertson presented a variety of
basic stitches, and in December, many of them were included in the project Norwich Delight.
